Editorial Contributions
Contributor Guidelines
The Complete Fly Fisherman (TCFF) is a specialist fly fishing magazine featuring articles that deal with the greater discipline of fly fishing. This includes, but is not limited to, the following categories:
- fly-tying,
- salt and fresh water fly fishing,
- boat impressions and gear reviews,
- conservation, and
- satire.
We also feature articles on travel, but this is normally reserved for editorial staff and only commissioned articles on this subject are published.
TCFF prides itself on the integrity of its editorial and therefore publishes authoritative, well-written articles on the various disciplines that encompass fly fishing, both technical and as a lifestyle. Focussing on the aesthetic aspect of the pursuit, TCFF only publishes articles with photographs that meet our required standards of quality and composition (see photographic requirements). In some instances, i.e. where an article has particular merit but not good photographs, we may use our library resources, but we generally prefer topical photographs to be submitted with the article. Sketches will be considered for publication only if of proper standard and quality, and may be redrawn by our staff if considered necessary.
If you wish to submit an unsolicited article, please bear in mind that TCFF supports catch-and-release and therefore has an editorial policy not to publish photographs of dead fish and/or fish held incorrectly in a manner which may impact on their general well-being. A good example of this would be fingers in the gills, or a heavy fish held up by the tail, or a fish gaffed in a life-threatening way etc.
Our editorial policy is not to promote any specific product or service through the publishing of articles, unless such products and/or services are justified in the particular context. References to products and/or services will otherwise be removed.
Please note: While we attempt to answer all queries, this may take some time depending on workload. Rest assured that all submissions will be read and evaluated and responded to in due course. So, do not despair if you do not hear from us immediately.
